WAFA water filling adapter for motorhomes and caravans

Click the hose on, fill the tank.

The WAFA is a water filler cap with a connector: it goes on the filler neck of your fresh water tank in place of your tank cap. The hose with a Gardena connector clicks on, and the water runs into the tank rather than past it. The end of the hose does not touch the tank opening.

  • For bayonet and screw caps
  • For Gardena and compatible connectors
  • Hose does not touch the tank opening
  • WAFA+ stays on as the tank cap

Filling up at the pitch

Who is actually holding the hose?

Filler necks sit low, at an angle or behind a narrow flap. The hose has to go in and stay there while the tank slowly fills.

It slips out

A loose hose in the filler neck tends to jump out when you turn the tap on. So you stand next to it and hold on until the tank is full.

It misses

Whatever splashes back or runs past the filler neck ends up on the side of the vehicle, in the storage compartment or on your shoes.

The end of the hose was on the ground a moment ago

When you roll out a hose, it lies on the ground. With the WAFA, it no longer goes into the tank opening but clicks on from the outside.

How it works

A cap with a connector

While you fill up, the WAFA replaces your tank cap. At the front is a connector for Gardena and compatible hose connectors, the kind you know from the garden.

  1. Tap hose with a quick connector, as in the garden
  2. Hose connector clicks onto the connector on the WAFA
  3. WAFA sits on the filler neck in place of the tank cap
  4. Tank the water runs in, the hose stays outside

Air has to get out

While water runs into the tank, air has to escape. With the WAFA, this happens through pressure-equalising openings in the adapter, so it is suitable for tanks with and without an overflow. The WAFA+ needs a working tank vent or an overflow on the tank.

The extra hose

A short hose comes with the WAFA. With short, horizontal filler necks and high pressure, the water can swirl and come out of the openings. In that case, fit the hose onto the outlet of the WAFA and push it into the filler neck.

It does not switch off

No WAFA can tell when the tank is full. When water comes out of the openings or the tank vent, turn the water off. So do not leave the tank filling unattended.

Two designs

WAFA or WAFA+

The hose clicks onto both. The difference is what happens after filling up.

WAFA

For filling

WAFA 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8

  • You fit it in place of the tank cap while you fill up.
  • After filling up, you take it off, put the original cap back on and stow the WAFA. The service flap does not normally close with the WAFA fitted.
  • WAFA 2 to 5: pressure-equalising openings in the adapter, for tanks with and without an overflow. With a short extra hose.
  • WAFA 8: with a brass connector and a screw cap on a retaining strap.

WAFA+

Stays on as the tank cap

WAFA+ 6 and WAFA+ 7

  • It replaces your tank cap completely and stays on the filler neck, even while you drive.
  • A built-in valve opens for filling and closes afterwards, so no water runs back out of the tank.
  • A dust cap covers the connector when no hose is attached. The service flap still closes.
  • Brass connector. Only for tanks with a working tank vent or an overflow.

The quick way

Which WAFA fits?

A few questions about your vehicle and your tank cap. Whatever we know about the vehicle and manufacturer is already pre-selected. The surest check is your original cap: along with the result, we show you what it looks like, with a photo and dimensions.

The finder needs JavaScript. You can manage just as well without it: under Identify your cap you will find your tank cap and the matching WAFA.

What do you drive?

Not sure? Send a photo of your tank cap to info@camperstation.de – we will tell you which WAFA fits.

Identify your cap

Which tank cap do you have?

To find the matching WAFA reliably, compare your original cap with the photos and dimensions here. Take it off and look at two things: how it is fastened and how big it is.

How to measure

  1. Bayonet or screw cap? A bayonet cap is secure after a short turn. A screw cap needs several turns.
  2. Count the pins. On a bayonet cap there are small lugs on the inside that engage with the filler neck – two or three.
  3. Measuring a bayonet cap: measure the cap on the outside, across the widest point.
  4. Measuring a screw cap: measure the thread on the filler neck, across the outside of the turns. How close together the turns are tells you whether it is a fine or coarse thread.
  5. No calliper to hand? Print out the measuring template and place the cap on the circles.

How to use it

In three steps

Shown with the WAFA+, which stays on as the tank cap.

WAFA+ on the fresh water tank in a storage compartment, with a hose and orange connector attached Open storage compartment of a caravan, a hose leading to the WAFA on the fresh water tank WAFA+ 6 on the tank in the storage compartment of a caravan, the yellow dust cap fitted in the connector

Cap off, WAFA on

Take off the original cap and fit the WAFA. With a screw cap, put it on straight and do not let it tilt, otherwise the thread on the tank can get damaged. With a bayonet fitting, tighten it with a short turn clockwise.

Fit it straight, do not tilt it

To be honest

What it can do – and what it can't

An adapter is a tool. So that you know where you stand:

What the WAFA can do

  • connect the hose firmly to the filler neck – you do not have to hold it
  • guide the water into the tank rather than past it
  • keep the end of the hose away from the tank opening
  • as the WAFA+, replace the tank cap and stay on

What it can't do

  • tell when the tank is full. It does not switch off, so do not leave the tank filling unattended.
  • make the water cleaner. That is what the CamperFilter is for.
  • work without a tank vent, in the case of the WAFA+. The tank needs a working tank vent or an overflow.
  • cope with heat. Above 60 °C, in the dishwasher or on a heating pipe, the plastic deforms.

Made by us

Material and manufacture

Our own design

CamperStation develops the WAFA itself and makes it in Germany. Questions are answered by the people who built it.

Made in-house

The adapter is made from plastic by additive manufacturing. Slight variations in colour and surface finish are possible.

Brass where it counts

WAFA+ 6, WAFA+ 7 and WAFA 8 have a brass connector. The WAFA+ also has a silicone seal, a brass pin and a stainless steel spring for the valve.

Care

Rinse with water, do not put it in the dishwasher and do not expose it to more than 60 °C. Do not leave it in hot places, such as next to the heating outlet.

HoseCap

The cap goes on the hose connector when you are done. That way the hose stays closed, and neither dirt nor insects get in. An eyelet keeps the cap on the hose so it does not get lost. Comes in a pack of three.

Questions

Which WAFA fits my vehicle?
That depends on your filler cap: whether it is fastened with a bayonet or a thread, and how big it is. Most campervans need the WAFA 3A, and so do most semi-integrated, integrated and over-cab motorhomes and caravans. The surest way is to compare your original cap with the photos and dimensions on this page; the finder at the top gets you there in a few clicks. If you are unsure, send a photo of your cap to info@camperstation.de.
Which WAFA fits a campervan?
Most campervans – whatever the manufacturer – have a bayonet fitting with 3 pins and a 78 mm cap. That is what the WAFA 3A is for. To be sure, compare your original cap with the photo under “Identify your cap”.
Which WAFA fits the Hymer B-Class, Roller Team, Eura Mobil, Adria and other Trigano models?
Most models from the Trigano group – Roller Team, Eura Mobil, Benimar, Mobilvetta, Forster, Adria Mobil, Sun Living, McLouis and CI – and the Hymer B-Class have a bayonet fitting with 2 pins and a cap of about 39 mm. That is what the WAFA 4 is for. Newer Benimar Tessoro models need the WAFA 3B.
Which water filler cap fits Knaus and Weinsberg?
Knaus and Weinsberg motorhomes have a 60 mm screw cap: from model year 2019/2020 with a coarse thread (WAFA 5G or WAFA+ 7G), before that with a fine thread (WAFA 5F or WAFA+ 7F). Their caravans with the water tank behind a service flap need the WAFA+ 6. Motorhomes from around 2001, such as the Knaus Sun Traveler 504, have a 40 mm filler neck: that is what the WAFA 8 is for.
Which WAFA fits Chausson, Challenger and Ahorn Slim?
The WAFA+ 7G, for 60 mm screw caps with a coarse thread. It replaces the tank cap and stays on. In the shop it has its own listing for these three manufacturers.
What is the difference between WAFA and WAFA+?
You only fit the WAFA for filling up; afterwards your original cap goes back on. The WAFA+ replaces the filler cap completely and stays on: a valve closes after filling, a dust cap covers the connector, and the service flap still closes.
Can the WAFA stay on while driving?
The WAFA+ can – that is what it is made for. You take the WAFA (2, 3, 4, 5 and 8) off after filling up and stow it away – with it fitted, the service flap does not normally close.
Which hose connector do I need?
A quick connector from Gardena or a compatible system for 1/2-inch hoses, like the ones you know from the garden. The hose connector is not included.
Does the WAFA switch off when the tank is full?
No. When water comes out of the openings of the WAFA or out of the tank vent, the tank is full and you turn the water off. So do not leave the tank filling unattended.
My tank has no overflow. Does it still work?
With the WAFA 2 to 5, yes: pressure-equalising openings in the adapter let the air out. The WAFA+ is only intended for tanks with a working tank vent or an overflow.
Water comes out of the openings while filling, even though the tank is not full.
This happens with short, horizontal filler necks and high water pressure: the water swirls. Fit the short hose supplied onto the outlet of the WAFA and push it into the filler neck. Turning the tap down a little also helps.
I don't know whether I have a fine or a coarse thread.
Look at the thread on the filler neck. A fine thread has many shallow turns close together, about 2.3 mm apart. A coarse thread has few deep turns, about 6 mm apart. On Knaus and Weinsberg, the thread changed around model year 2019/2020. If in doubt, send us a photo.
What is the WAFA made of?
PETG, made by additive manufacturing. WAFA+ 6, WAFA+ 7 and WAFA 8 have a brass connector; the WAFA+ also has a silicone seal, a brass pin and a stainless steel spring for the valve. Protect it from heat above 60 °C and do not put it in the dishwasher.
Where is the WAFA made?
CamperStation develops the WAFA itself and makes it in Germany.
What if my vehicle is not on the list?
Then your cap decides: with the “Identify your cap” section and the measuring template, you can find the type even without knowing the manufacturer. Or write to us with a photo of the cap. If your WAFA fits a vehicle that is not yet on the list, we would be glad to hear from you – it helps make the list more complete.
Where can I buy the WAFA?
In the CamperStation shop. You will find all models in the overview there: WAFA tank adapters in the shop.
